Project Scope
To design and develop a fully custom and full featured eCommerce website for Pacesetter Ski Shoppe–a local Edmonton ski and snowboard store–that will interface and sync with their in-store Point of Sale system and database to accurately show which items they have currently have in stock.
Alongside the eCommerce component, the website will also possess functions for facilitating signups for events, blogging, and other business related information such as services.
Process
The first step was to meet with the client, and to meet with them regularly. After gaining information from them, we started Design Sprints to brainstorm the design and features of the website. Afterwards, the designer and developer teams split their focus on designing the LoFi + HiFi wireframes and developing the theme template files + site functionality respectively.
As part of the design team, I took charge of designing most of the eCommerce side of the website such as the Products Catalogue and Single Product Page, as well as the Events pages.
After developing the wireframes, the design team then started on styling the website using SCSS.
Accomplishments
In a team, successfully designed LoFi and HiFi wireframes with a strong design and a high level of detail, receiving only minor design criticisms and negative feedback from superior, peers, and importantly the client.
Successfully styled a WordPress theme from the ground up, utilizing SCSS to streamline styling and improve collaborative work.
Extensively used Git and Github to manage version control, minimize conflicts, and work redundancy and loss.
